COMPAS Statement on COVID-19

Over the past few days, we have heard from many of our program partners, Teaching Artists, and stakeholders about their concerns regarding COVID-19 and the challenges created as a result of this pandemic. As we work together to get through this crisis, we want to take a moment to review the situation.

The COVID-19 virus is challenging everyone to identify plans and policies to implement. The speed involved in the spread and the rapidly changing situation demands that organizations develop a fluid and responsive plan for operations moving forward.

As a non-profit organization, COMPAS serves many potentially vulnerable populations, and we take the safety and health of all of them very seriously. That is why we will continue to rely on our program partners to decide what is best for their organizations and on our Teaching Artists to decide what is best for them individually. Per our stated policy, we will always make every effort to reschedule any cancelled programs. We will do our best to work with all affected site partners and Teaching Artists.

We will continue to watch for updates and guidance from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), local health agencies, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Our top priority is the safety of our staff, Teaching Artists, and the communities we work with. While the overall risk of getting COVID-19 in the US remains low, we encourage everyone to continue taking preventive strategies to minimize the risk of exposure.

If you have any concerns, please reach out to COMPAS via phone or email.
