COMPAS Call for Artists

COMPAS is accepting applications for Teaching Artists!

What do COMPAS Roster Artists do?

COMPAS Artists engage individuals in their artform through performances, workshops, residencies, presentations and programs.

Where do Artists work?

We work in communities throughout Minnesota including schools, libraries, community program sites, senior care centers and a multitude of other locations.

What are artists paid?

Pay rates are competitive, but may vary depending on the project, location and population served.
Performance fees are set by the artist/group, and payment for educational programs generally range from $55-$75 per hour.

Are there certain art forms or cultural backgrounds that interest COMPAS?

Yes! We’re particularly interested in artists who teach art forms we do not currently offer, and artists who represent a culture or gender in an artform that is different than artists our current roster.

Artforms we hope to add to the roster:

Manga, graphic novels (artwork and/or writing), zines or anime
Web and graphic design, computer animation
Playwriting
Hip Hop
STEAM-based connections (projects that link to Math & Science-related topics)
Other high quality arts that connect well with academic standards (but do not sacrifice the quality of the arts to do so).

We are interested in artists who authentically represent Minnesota's cultural communities, including:

American Indian/Native American groups/artists
Hmong & other SE Asian groups/artists
Somali & other East African groups/artists
Latino/Latina, Chicano groups/artists
