If you are a COMPAS Teaching Artist, you may apply once annually during the fiscal year period of July 1st - June 30th for funding of up to $250 for professional development. If the opportunity fits the criteria listed below, please fill out the submission form at the bottom of the page and COMPAS will be in touch with more details. Applications will be reviewed by the program team on a rolling basis. It is strongly recommended that you put your application in at least 60 days before the PD opportunity. If you’ve received a professional development grant during two consecutive fiscal years, you must wait until one year has passed before applying again.

Professional development opportunity will expand/further your teaching artist practice by:

  • Learning to work with a new community (children, youth, older adults, people with disabilities, memory care, etc.)

  • Learning to work in a new setting (hospital, clinic, etc.)

  • Exploring a trauma-informed approach to teaching (people in recovery, experiencing homelessness &/or living with a mental illness)

  • Advancing technological abilities/knowledge

  • Integrating equity work into teaching/lesson plans

  • Training with a mentor/community leader (non-organizational)

Criteria for artists after they are awarded funds & completed training:

  • Host a workshop at the annual business meeting in September

  • Host an optional Zoom session for other teaching artists (within 3 months of completing opportunity)

  • Other ideas? Please fill in form below with details.
