Empowering justice involved individuals with creative expression can craft and shape brighter futures.

COMPAS justice involved residency programs focus on writing or making new works of art that showcase the skills, capabilities, and creativity of the participants. COMPAS teaching artists can impact juvenile detention programs, court ordered programs, jail programs, and other justice related programming.

Since 2012, COMPAS has been the home of the Women’s Writing and Arts program, which was catalyzed by the Advisory Task Force on Justice Involved Women and Girls. The Women’s Writing and Arts Program seeks to offer creative opportunities specifically for women and girls in justice settings, who often are not offered opportunities for creativity and growth.
