A New Way to Experience Minnesota’s Most Inspiring Artists

COMPAS is thrilled to announce the launch of Creativity on Tap Concerts, a new live series that brings together some of Minnesota’s most in-demand artists and performers (who happen to be COMPAS teaching artists) for evenings filled with music, poetry, art, and dance.

Each event offers affordable opportunities to experience the same creative energy these artists bring to classrooms and community spaces, along with great food, drinks, and the chance to relax and connect with friends.

Why Now

There are moments when the world needs art more than ever. When creativity becomes the force that connects us, heals us, and reminds us of who we are. This is one of those moments.

We are living through a time of rapid change and uncertainty. Technology, politics, and culture are shifting faster than many of us can keep up, and genuine connection can feel harder to find. Many people are struggling with stress, burnout, and isolation.

Art helps us make sense of it all. It gives us ways to express what cannot always be said and to find one another again through creativity and shared experience.

Sounds like COMPAS

For more than fifty years, COMPAS has helped millions of Minnesotans do exactly that.

During the civil rights and women’s movements of the 1960s and 70s, the arts gave people new language for change. (COMPAS was there.)

After 9/11 and the 2008 Great Recession, creativity helped people find comfort and hope. (COMPAS was still there.)

Since the start of the pandemic, art has been a lifeline, helping us stay connected when connection itself was hard to find. (Yep, still COMPAS. Still here.)

Now, as we continue to navigate the social, emotional, cultural, and technological challenges of this era, Creativity on Tap Concerts will bring the community together through the same spark that has always sustained us: creativity.

An Evening to Honor Those Who Teach and Inspire

We’re starting the series with a night that is open to everyone, with a special focus on the people who bring learning to life: Minnesota’s educators.

Join us on Thursday, December 18, from 6-8pm for an evening of live music, spoken word, and art-making led by acclaimed COMPAS Teaching Artists:

The concert will take place at Black Business Enterprises, a beautiful and welcoming venue in downtown Minneapolis (1128 Harmon Pl, Suite 200).

Tickets are intentionally affordable (with special pricing for educators this time):
