Interact Center for the Visual and Performing Arts Imagination and Memory Interact Center for the Visual and Performing Arts was founded in 1996 to provide artists with disabilities a place to pursue and develop their art to its highest potential. In fall 2004, eighty visual and performing artists produced Interact’s most artistically ambitious production to date, Imagination and Memory. Interact artists and community artists with disabilities collaborated with noted local artists, Lourdes Cue, Ta-Coumba Aiken and Michael Sommers to incorporate shadow puppetry, sculptural installation, storytelling, music, movement and technology into a mythic multi-media performance, exploring the intersections of and common distinctions between imagination and memory. “Collaborations between non-disabled and disabled artists are crucial to systems change and social improvement for all people with disabilities.” ~ Jeanne Calvit, Artistic Director, Interact Center for the Visual and Performing Arts Please visit Interact Center for the Visual and Performing Arts at www.interactcenter.com.
