Imagination and Memory

Interact Center for the Visual and Performing Arts was founded in 1996 to provide artists with disabilities a place to pursue and develop their art to its highest potential.  In fall 2004, eighty visual and performing artists produced Interact’s most artistically ambitious production to date, Imagination and Memory.  Interact artists and community artists with disabilities collaborated with noted local artists, Lourdes Cue, Ta-Coumba Aiken and Michael Sommers to incorporate shadow puppetry, sculptural installation, storytelling, music, movement and technology into a mythic multi-media performance, exploring the intersections of and common distinctions between imagination and memory.
