Since 1991, Sounds of Hope has been bringing children together from all over the world- from Ghana, Singapore, Russia, Bosnia, Costa Rica and more- to perform a summer concert tour of international music across Minnesota.
Every summer, as the young international performers arrive at the Minneapolis/ St. Paul International Airport one of the first things they ask is, “When will we see the great Mississippi River?”
It was this question, repeated over and over, that inspired the 2004 Songs of Hope Mississippi River Tour. International students from ten countries collaborated with fifth grade students from Mississippi Magnet School in Saint Paul to create a musical and dance performance, celebrating and honoring water as a global connection.
