Since 1954, United Arts, a program of COMPAS, has been an important source of support for a variety of arts organizations in the metro area. In an effort to widen its funding reach, a newly-created Greater Minnesota School Arts Fund will award grants to support partnerships that use the arts to strengthen curriculum in schools in a population center of 25,000 or less outside the 12-county metro area starting in 2009. We raise funds primarily through workplace giving campaigns, and approximately 30 arts organizations benefit each year from United Arts funding. These grants help ensure quality arts education in schools and sustain important community-building arts programs. Each year over 300,000 Minnesotans take part in programs funded by United Arts.
