Let’s Create a Circus at Highland Park Community Center: June 10th–13th from 9am-12pm.
with COMPAS Teaching Artist Benjamin Domask, Ages 6-12.
Learn balance and toss juggling, mime and movement, and the art of clowning all leading up to a performance on the last day for family and friends. All equipment provided.

Puppetry at Langford Park Rec Center: June 24th–27th from 9am-12pm.
with COMPAS Teaching Artist Malia Burkhart, Ages 10-14.
Sculpt rod puppets from recycled materials and learn puppet-moving skills. Create characters, invent original stories with sound effects, and present fabulous puppet shows at the end of the week.

Create a Play at North Dale Rec Center: June 24th–27th from 1pm-4pm.
with COMPAS Teaching Artist Eric Sharp, Ages 11-16.
Watch your child’s ideas spring to life as they engage in theater games and writing prompts to take their stories to the stage! Write dynamic short plays about people, events, and big questions. Then learn basic play structure, and polish your piece with physical theatre exercises. Camp will end with a performance for family and friends.

Piece together artistic solutions to everyday challenges and repurpose pieces into a whole through sculpture, collage, and mosaic techniques. Try out the methods inventors, computer scientists, and archaeologists use to solve real-life puzzles.

Photography Basics at North Dale Rec Center: July 8th–11th from 1pm-4pm
with COMPAS Teaching Artist Mica Lee Anders, Ages 11-16.
Get to know your camera and learn to see through the camera’s lens! Learn how to shoot in a variety of photographic styles—from abstracts to landscapes/cityscapes. Each lesson will begin with a discussion of composition and hands-on camera tips before we take pictures. At the end of the week, we will display a selection of our photos for family and friends. Cameras will be provided or you can bring your own! 

Songmaking at North Dale Rec Center: July 15th–18th from 1pm-4pm
with COMPAS Teaching Artist Stefon “Bionik” Taylor, Ages 8-14.
Build self-confidence while learning to work together in groups to accomplish creative goals. Create concepts for songs rooted in your feelings and ideas. Then, write and edit lyrics, create a beat, and add melodic and rhythmic elements. Finally, record your songs and listen to them together. All the necessary equipment provided. 

Manga at Northwest Como Rec Center: July 22nd–25th from 1pm-4pm
with COMPAS Teaching Artist Dennis Lo, Ages: 11-16.
Manga takes students beyond cartooning and illustration and into the world of visual storytelling. This camp will include a variety of exercises to encourage us to explore our own personal stories and interests. Develop characters for your own manga story and learn to make a narrative through a combination of images and words. All supplies will be included.  

Mosaic Making at Langford Park Rec Center: July 29th–August 1st from 9am-12pm
with COMPAS Teaching Artist Mica Lee Anders, Ages 11-16.
Explore your creativity through hands-on experience making your own one-of-a-kind mosaics to take home! Delve into a wide variety of mosaic materials and learn a variety of mosaic styles such as crazy paving and tiling patterns. All materials will be included.  

Forest Inspired Art at Highland Park Community Center: July 29th–August 1st from 9am-12pm
with COMPAS Teaching Artist Sarah Nassif, Ages 11-16.
Go to Hidden Falls and explore the forest with a botanist and find design inspiration. We will create a leaf motif and learn how to incorporate it into a screen printed piece of wearable art. All materials included. 

Flash Plays at Northwest Como Rec Center: July 29th–August 1st from 1pm-4pm
with COMPAS Teaching Artist Saymoukda Vongsay, Ages 8-11.
Work collaboratively to create your very own flash plays! Through improv and writing exercises, we will stretch our imaginations and flex our creativity. We will learn the components of a script (character, plot, scenes, dialogue, and conflict) and the processes of performance. On the last day, we will share our flash plays with colorful hand-made props included. All materials included.

Explore a variety of circus arts including toss juggling, balance skills, clowning and mime! Through these skills we will discuss and discover a variety of ways to express our thoughts and feelings non-verbally. Camp will end with a performance for friends and family. All materials included.
