GENERAL FUND FY 2009 OVERVIEW
(For programs occurring between July 1, 2008 - June 30, 2009)
The COMPAS General Fund (GF) is made possible by gifts to the United Arts Fund, a fund-raising program of COMPAS.
Program Mission
The mission of the General Fund (GF) is to support 501(c) (3) organizations as they endeavor to produce art projects and programs that reach new audiences or that use the arts to serve the community.
The General Fund supports 501 (c) (3) organizations of any size that work to strengthen individuals or the community through arts programming. This includes art activities produced professionally as well as school and community art endeavors. The nonprofit sector exists to provide services beneficial to society. Nonprofits working in the arts, whether the work focuses on classical art, innovative education or social programs that utilize art, should be able to articulate their service and the need for that service.
Applicants can either apply for general operation or project/program funding. In any case, applicants will be evaluated on how well the proposed program activities (to occur between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009) further the GF mission and meet the GF review criteria.
The arts play a vital role in society. All residents, regardless of economic background, age, neighborhood, or any social barrier should have access to the arts. Therefore, any new or existing projects or program activities that demonstrate the value of the arts in the community will be considered for funding.
The COMPAS General Fund is a competitive process. Applicants must compete annually for funding. Each proposal will be rated against the criteria and other proposals.
MAXIMUM AWARD AMOUNT: $15,000
