ArtsWork begins June 23, 2008
Making Art! Making Money! Making Citzens!
ArtsWork is now in its eigth year. We are looking for young artists, ages 14 - 21, who demonstrate talent and skill in their artistic disciplines (visual, literary, musical, etc.) to be part of an arts-based youth employment and training program for 6 weeks, from June 23 to August 1, 2008.
We will employ approximately 80 youth Apprentice Artists.
Youth Apprentice Artists who participate in this program will:
* Be mentored by professional artists
* Earn $6 - $8 dollars per hour
* Work 25 hours a week for 6 - 8 weeks
* Develop job skills
* Learn how to work with others
* Produce artwork for the Retail Store
Special Needs Coordinators will assist Apprentice Artists with disabilities.
Eligibility - you must be 14 through 21 and demonstrate talent and skill in a visual, literary, or instrumental artistic discipline.
Registration Requirements- You must bring all of the following to your interview.
* Letter(s) of Recommendation from your art, music or English teacher and/or past
employer
* a cover letter and resume
* Visual Art - a portfolio of your work
* Writing - samples of your writing
* Instrumental Music- an audition with director
* Theatre - an audition with director
* Verification of birth date - residency & employment eligibility (i.e., driver’s license, school records, birth certificate, alien registration card)
* Social Security card or copy of card
You will also take a test to help assess your skill level. These tests will determine if the program improved your skills.

Be prepared for a two hour interview. This will include the test, audition and interview.
Parents are not allowed to fill out forms or attend auditions and interviews.
