Youa Vang's visual arts group painted a 1970 VW bus with sayings and images from the Woodstock era to honor the stars that appeared at this year's Taste of Minnesota. The Magic Bus transported people to the annual celebration.
The writing group, under the direction of Louis Porter II, read and recited original poems for the public on Ecolab Plaza.
Apprentice Artists learned the fundamentals of drawing and painting from Youa Vang.
Young artists sang, danced, and did improvisation on Ecolab Plaza with Kamesha Jackson of Penumbra Theatre.
Apprentice Artists in the jewelry group worked with Kirk Sklar on Ecolab Plaza.
The ArtsWork Store, featuring art by the apprentices, was open for business on Ecolab Plaza.

New and returning artists from four arts disciplines mentored apprentice artists, ages 14 to 21, for six weeks this summer, in four Saint Paul locations. The art forms, participating artists, and sites were:
Jewelry-making with Kirk Sklar at the Minnesota Business Academy. Apprentices learned about the fundamentals of design, fabrication, and casting and enameling of original jewelry.
Powerful Poetry, Personal Prose and Performance with Louis Porter II at the St. Paul Central Library. Youth explored three genres of writing, while growing both as artists and as people.
Penumbra’s Summer Institute with Kamesha Jackson at Penumbra Theatre. Young artists focused on performance skillsacting, singing, dancing, and improvisationculminating in a fully-staged play
Portrait Painting with Youa Vang on Ecolab Plaza. After learning the fundamentals of drawing and painting, apprentices focused on the art of portraiture and caricature.
