COMPAS to Honor Art Supporters at Annual Gala

Gala will feature performances from COMPAS teaching artists & students

SAINT PAUL (December 7, 2015) - Today, COMPAS is proud to announce the recipients of the 2015 Molly Taylor Award: Marcy and Randy Betcher. The Betchers will be honored at the Celebrating a World of Creativity Gala, Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the historic Dove Hill mansion, 260 Summit Ave.

Randy and Marcy Betcher have been longtime champions of art education in schools. “If you want to make a lasting impact on someone’s life, this is a way you can do that,” said honoree Randy Betcher. “You can fan a flame, start a spark that grows into something that someone gets life-long enjoyment from, like I have.”

The Molly Taylor Award honors an individual or family that has made a significant impact on arts access in Minnesota through their contributions and volunteer efforts, and who shows an unyielding desire to continue to promote the importance of creativity and art-making in our community.  An individual or family can receive the Molly Taylor Award only once.

COMPAS is a nationally-recognized provider of arts education programs and has been engaging individuals and communities in creating art since 1974. “Marcy and Randy are incredible advocates for the arts in Minnesota, and we are so happy to honor them,” said Executive Director Dawne Brown White. “Their faithful support of art education enables COMPAS to fulfill our mission of connecting people with the magic of creativity – regardless of age, location, or ability.”
