A board member since 2006, Dr. Louis Porter II is the Executive Director of the Council for Minnesotans of African Heritage (CMAH) and a New Orleans native. He graduated from Boston University with his bachelor’s in journalism and earned his Master’s in Liberal Arts Studies in writing from Hamline University. He also has a doctorate in organizational development form the University of St. Thomas and a consulting practice in communication and organization development. Since 1999, he has been the president of LPII Communications and Development, which is a highly sought-after communications consulting practice.

Porter has also worked for the Pioneer Press as a reporter and has been a professor at various Minnesota colleges and universities, including the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. Dr. Porter is also a member of the COMPAS Artist Roster, and offers school residencies on memoir and poetry writing.
