Summertime Creativity!

Students at STAR Camp in 2017

Students at STAR Camp in 2017

What are your goals for the summer? It can seem like a daunting question, but we're here to help narrow down your decision. For us at COMPAS, we have one main goal: to stay creative. Our artists and community are keeping busy for the next few months to make this goal a reality. Check out all that's going on this summer!

A STAR Collaboration

COMPAS is teaming up with the Minnesota Science Museum and SteppingStone Theater to bring STAR Transformations (Science, Theater, and ARt) for students in grades 1st through 6th. Learn about different types of transformations- from metamorphoses to chemical reactions to evolutionary changes. Explore theater activities and create art based on transformations. There will be two opportunities to attend this camp: June 25th - 29th and August 13 - 17th. Head to MN Science Museum's website for more information or to register a student. Use course codes (YDSEC0625 or YDSEC0813) to look up registration.

Summer at the Walker

We have two Teaching Artists making some cameos at the one and only Walker Art Center. Join Fiona Avocado on June 2nd for Family Day! This event is kicking off Pride Month by celebrating all types of kids and families. Make a one-of-a-kind a family portrait, explore the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, and celebrate what it means to be you!

Mica Lee Anders will be there the following month, on July 7th, for "The Dog Days are (Not) Over". She will be making animal masks for this very special, and furry, event. There will even be a Pooch Parade featuring the cutest pups in the Midwest. What more could you want?

And the cherry spoon on top of the sundae is that both events are free!
