Artists in Action - Your COMPAS News Round Up

What did February bring for you? It may be the shortest month of the year, but we managed to make everyday even more creative to make up for the lost time. We hope you did the same! Freezing, yes... boring, not a chance!

Theater Aficionado: Aimee Bryant

"...some of the best artists is the world are living and creating here (Minnesota). The work that is created here is on par with art you would see in New York and L.A., though the rest of the world may be unaware of it."

This month's Artist Spotlight highlights performer Aimee Bryant, who is currently performing in the Children's Theater production of The Wiz! Don't be fooled. She may be a master thespian, but she's also a playwright, director, choreographer, carpenter, set designer, and crew member. We agree; some of the best artists do hail from the land of 10,000 lakes, including Aimee!

Celebrating history and culture through the arts

February is Black History Month and our artists delivered some amazing performances and workshops that showcased African and African American history and culture. Frank Sentwali was at Wescott Library teaching hip-hop and spoken word. Christian Adeti visited Hosmer Library a took participants on a journey through West African Dancing and Drumming. Also, Danielle Daniel was inspiring at South Saint Paul Library as she shared stories that highlighted African-American history and culture. Take a look at her performance below!
