News You Can Use – COMPAS Happenings

No lazy days of summer here! Earlier this year, COMPAS partnered with the Science Museum of Minnesota and SteppingStone Theatre to form the STAR Collective. STAR, standing for Science, Theater and ARt is running two A-MAZE-ing Labyrinth camps this summer for kids ages 6-12.

COMPAS artist, Teresa Cox led an art experience tied to the theme and history of mazes and labyrinths. Each student learned about color, texture and 3-D form through the creation of a hanging forest vine. At weeks end, all 48 vines were hung over a winding floor path to create a collaborative walking forest maze.

If this sounds like fun to you, join the waiting list (course code YDSTR0815) for the second session happening August 15th-19th.

Congratulations are in order to teaching artist Nicole Brending, who won the Silver Saint George Award at the 38th Moscow International Film Festival for Best Short Film. Congrats Nicole!

These artists are going places – quite literally! Amtrak Artists in Residency are writing projects on long-distance train journeys. Just goes to show that creativity has no geographic limits!
