Artists in Action – Your COMPAS News Round-up

Do you know what we’re grateful for during this season of thankfulness? You!

Thank you for following along on the COMPAS blog as we explore the importance of creativity.

Thinking about holiday giving for family and friends? Gifts to COMPAS can be designated in someone’s honor – and we will let the recipient know of your generous gift with a custom card featuring student artwork. Designate a gift for a loved one here. Thank you for supporting creativity!

Here are just a few things that students and artists in Minnesota have been up to this month:

Artist Rachel Moritz has been working with older adults in St. Paul to write poetry about their memories.

We partnered with the Greater Twin Cities and the United Way to bring mosaic art projects to groups across the Twin Cities. Check out volunteers and students at work at Rise Incorporated this month.

Research shows: Arts-based training increases creative thinking skills and innovation.

A big THANK YOU! To everyone who supported COMPAS during Give to the Max Day. We raised more than $4,000 for creative education – that’s enough to reach 250 students!

Did you know that COMPAS is a partner of Community Shares of Minnesota? When you support Community Shares and the United Arts Fund, you support our work and the work of groups advancing equity and social justice across Minnesota. Support Community Shares and learn more here.

Did you catch this month’s COMPAS teaching artist spotlight? This was our favorite quote: “We are only known by the choices we make, and the ways in which we interact with the world. Our choices matter, not only for how we are seen and known by the people around us, but in how we tell our most important story: the story of our own, single, and terribly precious lives.”
