George has enjoyed serving on boards and volunteering at numerous non-profit organizations, including being a Social Venture Partners Lead Partner to the Urban Debate League for 3 years, a current board member of the History Theatre and Southdale YMCA, and a past board member and broadly involved annually at the First Universalist Church of Minneapolis. George and his family recently spent two and a half years training a service dog for the Helping Paws organization. He has also been a Satin Dolls Senior Dance Group MC and singer monthly since 2007.
Since 2010, George has been the owner of George Dow Consulting, a solo executive career transition consulting practice in Edina. Prior to that, George spent 21 years with Right Management, an international career transition and organizational consulting firm, in various roles associated with executive level career transition consulting. He has served on local, national and international boards in the career management field. George has also taught undergraduate and graduate level career management courses at the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. He has an MBA degree, and undergraduate degrees in psychology and communications.
George is married to his wife of 36 years, Bonnie Hill, a recently retired family practice physician, and has three grown children, Laura age 34, Sarah age 32 and Michael age 27. George is the proud grandfather of Margot, a 2 year old, and Otto, a one year old. For fun, George loves photography, art, architecture, live theater, playing hockey twice a week, biking, international travel, and playing with his grandkids.
